Sahal Barre admits that if you’d met him a few years ago, he wasn’t someone you’d want to be friends with.
Move forward to now, and Sahal is preparing to go to university to study sports therapy, having successfully created a mentoring scheme that has helped him, and other young men like him, get their lives moving in a positive direction.
CSW Sport engaged with Eden Girls Islamic Faith School in Coventry as part of the satellite club initiative. Students identified the need for girls-only activities, held after school at a time that did not clash with prayers, school and home commitments. Swimming came out as the most popular activity in surveys undertaken.
Tees Valley Sport are committed to encouraging more people from under-represented groups to play sport and become physically active. Working with TS1 has had a huge impact on the local community.
