KBSK Performing Arts CIC
The focus of the project is to be able to share dance learning, through training with young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, who would not normally be able to access quality dance lessons.
KBSK believes that every child who has a passion for the arts deserves the right to access safe training
How the support has helped
The funding supported the creation of KICK BACK COVID aimed at the most disadvantaged and vulnerable members of the community, providing services to ensure positive mental health and active dance sessions.
The organisation recognised a disproportionate effect of the impact Covid-19 on the individuals within this community.
KICK BACK COVID offered weekly online dance classes and on the road sessions whilst also providing online confidence coaching, advice, support, signposting and distribution of food bank vouchers.
It has reached so many of young people within the wider community, also offering referrals to professional mental health support and budgeting for families in crisis.
KBSK has continued to engage with the wider community with online challenges and classes open to all, from fitness for beginners to advanced dance classes, delivered by professionals from all around the world.
It has set up a parent’s support group with more than 100 members. A safe space for parents to support each other, share tips and advice with the stress of home schooling.
Testimonials
“To be honest we have not stopped and we would have really struggled to have done everything we have done without receiving the funding from Active Cornwall, Sport England and the National Lottery. Thank you so, so much!”
