Do you have a passion for improving lives? Are you someone who can build trusted relationships with people from across different cultures, organisations and sectors?

If the answer is yes, then working for Active Partnerships is the job for you. Please see information below regarding 3 new roles in our national team.

__________________________________________________________________________________

Who are Active Partnerships?

We are about transforming lives through sport and physical activity. Our vision is to make active lives the social norm for everyone.

The network of 43 Active Partnerships cover all of England. We play a pivotal role in connecting, influencing and driving change to create a more joined-up approach that will help active lives become a social norm. We are locally-led and non-profit organisations and are a significant and unique part of the sport and physical landscape. Putting inequalities at the heart of our work, we are helping ensure that everyone can unlock the advantages of an active life. As a valued partner of Sport England, we are a central feature of it’s Uniting the Movement strategy.

The type of work we do is exciting and varied. For example, our work ranges from our commitment to racial equality, to working with local groups supporting communities facing the greatest barriers to being active, to using physical activity to improve the wellbeing of vulnerable young people.

A charitable company, governed by a Board of Trustees, employees a small ‘national team’ that connects, enables and supports the network to maximise it’s strengths and resources to drive collective impact. Last year we embarked on a full review of the national organisation. This gave us the opportunity to listen, share ideas and as a network collectively identify how we want to move forward. The process has sharpened our thinking and given us clarity on the roles and ways of working which will support our vision to become a reality.

As a result, we’ve undergone an internal re-structure and are delighted to introduce these three new roles into our national team. Now we want to find the right people to join us and excel doing them.

Full Time. Permanent contract. Home based with travel across England.

Salary: Circa £40,000-£45,000 p.a. (dependent on suitability) with attractive benefits package.

Reporting through to the Chief Executive Officer, you will help our vision to become a reality through 2 main roles:

  • To provide high quality support, primarily to the Active Partnership network, that helps to progress local and shared priorities.
  • To develop and maintain trusted and influential relationships with colleagues within the Active Partnership network, Sport England and wider partners which maximise the strengths and resources that exist.

We need someone with strong skills and qualities. And, of course, someone who shares our passion for transforming lives through sport and physical activity and making active lives the social norm for everyone. We’re open minded to the background and experience the right person would bring but we know the sort of attributes that would thrive. Someone who can build trusted relationships with people. Someone who shows confidence in checking and challenging thinking and ways of working. Someone who can influence change that will bring our vision becoming a reality a step closer. A person who values and promotes co-design and can bring people together to jointly create innovative ideas and practice that drive change. A leader who embraces diversity and inclusion, is comfortable operating in a fast moving environment and can join the dots between opportunities and challenges within and beyond the network.

Finance and Governance Relationships Partner

CLICK HERE TO APPLY FOR THIS ROLE

25 hours per week. Permanent contract. Home based with travel across England.

Salary: Circa £40,000-£45,000 p.a. FTE (dependent on suitability) with attractive benefits package.

We are looking for someone with a specific focus on finance and governance. Reporting through to the Chief Executive Officer, you will help our vision to become a reality through 2 main roles:

  • To ensure effective management and development of the Active Partnerships company financial, non-financial and governance controls and procedures.
  • To support and promote the highest standards of financial management and governance across the Active Partnership network.

We need to be outward looking as well as inward facing. We need high-quality financial controls and processes as an organisation, but we know we can also make a difference by supporting the network and our partners to develop strong financial expertise and practice. The same goes for our governance. We need to ensure we maintain the highest standards of compliance, eg. with the UK Code of Sports Governance, and provide a strong level of support to our Board and sub-committees. There is also space and opportunity to support national and local colleagues in developing and influencing effective governance approaches which promote purposeful, inclusive and forward-looking ways of working in support of our vision.

We’re therefore wanting the same attributes as we’re looking for in the Relationship Partner above but with a more tailored background around finance and governance. Being a Qualified Accountant isn’t an absolute must but is highly desirable. We need someone with a proven track record in financial and risk management, payroll and tax administration. As well as strengths in fiscal budgeting, planning and reporting. A good understanding of the charity sector, sports funding and it's governance is desired but if you don’t have this experience then show us how your strong corporate governance knowledge could be applied to the role.

We need someone who can be our ‘hub’ helping to ensure we are efficient, effective and work in a timely and co-ordinated way in pursuit of our vision. If you thrive in busy and self-motivated teams you’ll be right at home with us. Excellent communication will be essential, along with strong IT skills in technology, systems and databases, an ability to prioritise your workload and being an enthusiastic and supportive team member. Our team are based remotely across the country and whilst there may be an occasional requirement for travel, you will have the flexibility to be based anywhere in England.

___________________________________________________________________________

We are building a culture where diversity is valued and we can all be ourselves. We will not tolerate less favourable treatment of anyone, especially those with legally protected characteristics, and welcome applications from all sections of communities, particularly those under-represented within our organisation.

That is why our application forms are set up in ways that try to make it easy to tell us about yourself. We have a process that means all applications are assessed anonymously. The job application forms are hosted by Yorkshire Sport Foundation, one of the 43 Active Partnerships. When applying for any of the roles using the links above, you will need to create a free account and that will allow the form to save your progress every time you move to the next page.
