West Midlands celebrate the Paralympics with #ActiveWM Campaign

  • Local News

To celebrate the Rio Paralympic Games, six County Sport Partnerships have joined forces to create a joint awareness campaign promoting inclusive and accessible sporting opportunities. #ActiveWM aims to promote local inclusive sport events and activities across the West Midlands on social media, and encourage disabled people across the region to take part and become more active.

In Shropshire, the Inclusively Fit Project, which Energize is a consortium partner in,will be running the week long Inclusive Activity Roadshow from Monday 19th September to Sunday 25thSeptember 2016, it will aim to enable local people to take part in a wide range of inclusive recreational activities right across the county through a series of open taster sessions provided by local groups, clubs and venues. People of all abilities are encouraged to have a go in a number of sports and activities including rowing and boxing.

In Birmingham from Saturday 17th September – Sunday 25th September 2016, the fourth annual Birmingham Inclusive Sports Fest will take place in the city, offering fun and family-friendly inclusive sports taster days that will cater for individuals with a range of impairments. The activity 'open days' will aim to encourage residents of Birmingham to come along and experience inclusive or disability-specific activities they may never have tried before. With over 48 sessions covering 25 sports, there is something for everyone!

Other CSP’s have links to their awareness festivals and campaigns below.
