Since 2017, Northumberland Sport has been committed to a paradigm shift in brokering new relationships with partners and local stakeholders, using a long term, whole system approach to tackle some of the wider issues associated with inactivity. Underpinned by strong governance and leadership arrangements, this new strategic focus is designed to target inactive audiences more effectively throughout the county. This is evidenced by a move away from working with traditional partners e.g. National Governing Bodies for Sport, sports clubs etc to developing more collaborative leadership relationships with 'non-traditional' partners, especially amongst health providers and various local authority service providers e.g. planning, transport and housing.
