Poole Grammar engages in the Dorset School Games ‘Move-it Week’ challenges during National School Sport Week from 21st-25th June.
September 2021
The PE Department develop Handball and note that students enjoying lunchtime and after school Handball are not those who typically engage in extra-curricular activities.
October/November 2021
PE staff survey students with Sport England’s Active Lives Survey for Children and Young People. The survey is designed to provide insight into the physical activity habits and attitudes towards being physically active in play and sport.
December 2021
Sport England publish the national report for Active Lives. It reveals that despite activity levels being similar to the previous academic year, existing inequalities have widened and enjoyment/confidence in taking part are lower than before.
March 2022
The PE Department receive their confidential report from Sport England for the Active Lives Children and Young People Survey.
April/May 2022
The PE Department analyse the confidential Active Lives report and work with Year 9 Sports Ambassadors to co-create a campaign to encourage more students to build physical activity into their everyday lives.
June 2022
In advance of National School Sports Week from 20th-26th June, Year 9 Sports Ambassadors help the PE Department to drive positive messages about being physically active and encouraging their peers to move more, every day.
July 2022
Active Dorset is invited into Poole Grammar to meet the Sports Ambassadors, PE staff, the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher.
January 2023
Poole Grammar are developing a new PE/Games kit to help motivate students be more active and also battle such issues like body image. This has been driven by the Sports Ambassadors as they felt it is a current issue for students at the school.
