LRS launched its new Physical Activity and Sport Strategy 2017-2021 at its annual conference in November 2017. Earlier in the year, the LRS Board commissioned Robert Young Consulting Limited to undertake an independent consultation process of existing and potential partners to better understand local physical activity, health and sport priorities. During this consultation, our partners told us that a new strategy should:
- Redefine and broaden the range of organisations we work with to reach new audiences.
- Achieve the balance between a universal and targeted approach and address inclusivity and inequalities.
- Focus on early years, engagement in schools and support the paid and voluntary workforce.
"We have listened to what you told us is important and the strategy reflects a range of local priorities. However, there is a clear alignment from our strategy to the cross-government strategy for sport and we are confident that collectively we can play our part in delivering the five outcomes."
