The Herts Sports & Physical Activity Partnership, the Active Partnership for Hertfordshire, will be launching the ‘This Girl Can in Herts’ initiative on International Women’s Day 2022.
From the 8th of March the Partnership, known locally as HSP, will be announcing several exciting opportunities and events available to women and girls across Hertfordshire as part of the ‘This Girl Can in Herts 2022’ campaign, the localised activation of the national This Girl Can campaign from Sport England.
Events will range from monthly topical webinars featuring guest speakers to Community Festivals that will work to enhance women and girls’ sport and physical activity provisions in areas linking to HSP’s Active Local project, a place-based approach to tackling inequality.
Alex Varran, Women and Girls Lead at HSP said: “At the HSP, we are passionate about supporting greater participation in sport and physical activity among women and girls in Hertfordshire. We hope to continue raising the profile of women’s sport in Hertfordshire and beyond.”
As 2022 proves to be an important year for women’s sport on both a national and global level, HSP will be further adding to the breakdown of traditional barriers faced by women and girls. The Partnership will achieve this through their work with the sports development officers from each local authority to help spread the campaign and thus, want to encourage people to get their club members, teams, friends and family to engage and support.
