In a bid to address low physical activity levels associated with later life, along with loneliness and mental wellbeing, London Sport piloted an initiative in two boroughs: Sitting Netball.
Non-traditional netball in non-traditional locations. A pilot project funded by Sport England and delivered by Lancashire Sport Partnership, England Netball and Hyndburn Leisure Trust.
The successful Satellite club is aimed at girls aged 10-16 years old from a disadvantaged town, Skegness. There are very few clubs available in the local area and only 1 single sex Hockey club. Many of our members don’t like to exercise with boys so the opportunity to be active with peers of the same gender is huge for these girls, as it is non-threatening and safe.
