In a revolutionary new approach, the CSP Network are seeking to build on the success of their Workplace Challenge.
The CSP Network is reaching out to organisations that wish to work in partnership to develop a compelling workplace physical activity and employee wellbeing programme across England.
Thousands of businesses across England have already got active with the help of the County Sports Partnerships (CSPs) and the Workplace Challenge, providing inspiration and opportunities for employees to become more active at work. The programme includes an online platform and app with an activity log and leader boards for tracking activity levels, as well as the ability to promote a comprehensive programme of local offline content, activities and events, which is all supported with motivational tools, training and support from CSPs.
Lee Mason, Chief Executive of the County Sports Partnership Network, which runs Workplace Challenge, said:
“Open tender processes to procure suppliers and proactive approaches to secure customers are commonplace in our sector, but partnering arrangements are often adhoc and reactive, resulting in many missed opportunities. Following the significant interest we have received in our Workplace Challenge programme, we are embarking on a proactive and structured process to invite like-minded organisations to work with us to provide a better service for our customers.
Utilising our unique network of locally based teams across England, and building on the progress we have made over the last two years in building our Workplace Challenge programme, we now want to extend our offer to provide a comprehensive menu of opportunities for businesses, and in doing so help partners to raise the profile of their service and scale up their operation nationwide.”
The ‘Invitation to Partner’ guidance document sets out the opportunities and benefits of working with CSP Network and provides a tiered approach to partnering arrangements. The Network is reaching out to organisations that provide a sports or activity programmes aimed at the workplace, sports equipment, workplace gyms, active office equipment, digital platforms and wearable devices. All agencies that want to be associated with CSP Network and the Workplace Challenge, would like help to grow their service in more workplaces across England and can see the benefit of developing a mutually beneficial partnership are being encouraged to respond.
Interested partners can find out more at www.workplacechallenge.org.uk/invitation-to-partner and can discuss the opportunity with Andrew Watson (awatson@cspnetwork.org / 07739 657732). Expressions of interest should be submitted by Friday 2nd September 2016.

NOTES TO EDITOR:
CSP Network & the Workplace Challenge
- Workplace Challenge is run by the CSP Network, which represents 45 local County Sports Partnership teams across the country.
- Collectively, they contribute to the health of the nation by helping local partners, organisations and deliverers to promote the benefits of active lifestyles across local communities.
- Workplace Challenge’s activity tracking platform is a free online facility available through www.workplacechallenge.org.uk that enables individuals and workplaces to log all of their physical activity, and easily compare activity levels to other participating individuals and organisations.
- Active loggers will be able to see a variety of stats including distance travelled, calories burned, CO2 saved and progress against the recommended 150 minutes of physical activity per week using a targets bar. It's also possible to set personal targets (linked to fundraising if you wish) and create your ‘circles’ to compare your progress against friends and colleagues. All these features and more are available from your dashboard.
- A minimum of three registered employees are required for a workplace to appear in a leader board and people can also track their own individual progress locally and nationally.
- County Sports Partnerships across England locally manage the online platform for their community, ensuring that there are challenges, activities and competitions available offline to encourage people to stay active.
- Workplace Challenge is supported by Sport England through the Get Healthy Get Active fund.
- Independent evaluation completed by the British Heart Foundation National Centre for Physical Activity & Health at Loughborough University has provided significant and positive evidence for the Workplace Challenge. The research shows a significant increase in activity levels and improved mental health scores by people involved in the programme together with a reduction in sickness absenteeism (people absent from work through illness). The findings from the evaluation have formed the basis of our manifesto. Find out more and download the document at www.workplacechallenge.org.uk/manifesto
