Cheshire Girls Can

Summary:

Cheshire Girls Can was a locally developed programme inspired by the national initiative, This Girl Can, designed to influence sustainable behavioural change by educating, enabling and inspiring women to change their lives through exercise.

The programme was funded by Active Cheshire reserves and was not pressurised by 6 – 12 week time constraints as we understand behaviour change takes longer to embed.

With the support of a local hairdresser - a trusted connector to reach out into the community - we were able to target inactive mothers, who led particularly sedentary lives, from deprived backgrounds.

Participants were selected through an online campaign whereby they were required to give their reasons for being part of the programme.
