Live Longer Better
Live Longer Better (LLB) is a movement that seeks to enable people to live better for longer, to increase Healthy Life Expectancy and reduce the period of time at the end of life when people are very dependent on others. To do this, the movement seeks to encourage and enable healthy active ageing - supporting older people to live more active and less sedentary lives - which in turn supports their physical, cognitive and emotional wellbeing. There is significant scientific evidence that sits under the approach as a whole, which is set out in more detail in the Live Longer Better website.
The driving force behind LLB is a network of 30 Active Partnerships from across England who are each exploring how to support healthy active ageing in their local area. The network is led and co-ordinated by a project manager, and receives significant support and advocacy from its founder Sir Muir Gray. LLB also has a network of national partners (organisations with a nationwide remit) who support the movement. In addition to this, many Active Partnerships run locally based networks and communities of practice that bring together local organisations interested in active ageing and related topics.
A number of national learning events have been organised over the last 2 years to share good practice and insight. The recordings from the events can be accessed via the youtube channel
