To support children across Somerset during the COVID-19 pandemic the Early Years team at SASP reached out to the EYFS communities offering them an opportunity to take part in some virtual live physical activity lessons.
We know that a large group of children and teenagers still will seek the outdoors for sport and play, but in order to reduce inactivity within our young people in Somerset, SASP staff have come up with a creative way to engage with inactive pupils.

Bower Hinton, Ash and Martock (BHAM) running group was set up by Neil in the summer of 2016. After a renewed love of running and realising that his best runs were always with other people - strangers, friends or family, Neil wanted to start a group for his local villagers.
SASP have been working closely with three NHS foundation trusts in Somerset to increase the awareness of health and wellbeing in their workforce, and in particular increasing physical activity levels amongst staff.
Halcon is a ward in the Taunton Deane District of Somerset which has some of the highest levels of social deprivation in the county. It is within the top 5% of the most deprived areas in the UK.
