To support children across Somerset during the COVID-19 pandemic the Early Years team at SASP reached out to the EYFS communities offering them an opportunity to take part in some virtual live physical activity lessons.
Being a widespread and rural county a virtual offer was an excellent opportunity to promote the importance of physical development and help the young children foster positive relationships with physical activity on a larger scale.
With an average of 850 children taking part in the sessions each week SASP were able to interact with more children than we ever could face to face at one time. Childminders, Nurseries, Pre-Schools, Play groups and Foundation classes all took part in the sessions, tuning in on electronic whiteboards, TVs, tablets and other smart devices from their location.
