Active Partnerships welcome their role in helping implement the commitments published yesterday by Sport England and UK Sport in response to the Whyte review designed to strengthen participant and athlete wellbeing across sport.

The Whyte Review, the independent report which was co-commissioned by Sport England and UK Sport in 2020 following allegations of abuse and mistreatment in the sport of gymnastics.

The two organisations published 19 commitments across 5 areas that include coaching and workforce support, performance athlete support, good governance, dispute resolution and creating safer the funding of a national network of welfare officers to promote good practice and safe sport at a local level.

The full list is available to read on the Whyte Review section of Sport Englands website.

The Active Partnerships are focused on supporting the creation of a national network of local and regional welfare officers who will work with National Governing Bodies of Sport and their network of local clubs to promote good practice and safe sport on a local level. We will work with partners in the co design of the role ensuring we incorporate their knowledge and experience. We are looking forward to working alongside Sport England, National Governing Bodies of Sport and other key partners to develop this important work and will be able to share more in the coming months.
