Active Surrey have launched a new professionals hub; a ‘one-stop shop’ for physical activity support for Surrey residents. Physical inactivity is the fourth greatest cause of ill health in the UK and over one in five people in Surrey - 200,000 adults - are classified as wholly ‘inactive’, meaning they do less than 30 minutes of physical activity per week.
There is a strong evidence base that being physically active can prevent or manage more than 20 chronic conditions and diseases and we know that the NHS and Healthcare professionals are the two most trusted sources for information and guidance on how to be active.
We would encourage anyone in a resident facing role to visit the hub to access training and e-learning to upskill themselves on the health benefits of being physically active as well as national and local resources to help support their less active patients / clients, including those with long term health conditions to realise the benefits of moving more. www.activesurrey.com/professionals.
