Using dance to support young people through lockdown
The focus of the project is to be able to share dance learning, through training with young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, who would not normally be able to access quality dance lessons.

The National Initiative for Creative Education (NICE) is also Hull Migrant Centre and some of their work focuses on supporting young refugees and asylum seekers – mainly around their education. This project supported them to have the opportunity to be physically active but also to meet others and also get to know the City as the activities took place across different facilities. Swimming was a big focus of the project with some of the young people not being able to swim, or never having the opportunity to sim prior to this project.
Addressing the increased need around physical activity and mental wellbeing, brought about due to the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Tackling Inequalities fund helps keep people with slight loss active during lockdown
Active Sussex worked with local partners to distribute Tackling Inequalities Fund to groups who would be most effective in supporting people from each priority group to be active.

Safer Places received a grant during the first phase of TIF to run exercise sessions for women and their children currently being supported by the refuge service
Providing cycle skills sessions in the heart of the community targeting adults and families in the Town and Crosby area of Scunthorpe ( identified areas of high physical inactivity levels and an area of deprivation).
Project aimed to reach out to people with disabilities who had been shielding or isolated during Covid19 and had been struggling to find the motivation to get active during the lockdown period.
Active Humber worked with the the Stroke Association, to fund sessions through Sport Englands Tackling Inequalities Funding to support stroke survivors to be active in their own homes during these times.
